Through Law 5/2020, of April 18, on new exceptional and urgent measures due to the health emergency situation caused by the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic, various reductions has been established in the rent of housing and premises leases for business.

Likewise, it was established that certain aid should be developed through the regulatory route for the owners of commercial premises and rented accommodations, which would have seen their family income substantially reduced as a result of the measures regarding leases established in Law 5/2020.

For this reason, on May 15, 2020, the approval of the Regulation regulating occasional financial aid for owners of commercial premises and rented accommodations (from now on the “Regulation”), who has experienced a substantial family unit income decrease, a result of the measures regarding leases established in Law 5/2020, has been published in the BOPA.

The Regulation regulates the requirements to be met, the application procedure, the amount and the duration of the occasional aid. Among others, in order to obtain the aforementioned aid, in case of a single person, the annual income of 24,000.-€ must not exceed. In case of a family unit, that amount is raised up to 40,000.-€.

Those persons who meet the requirements established in the Regulation must request the aid through a telematic form made available by the Government, and should attaching the documentation listed in article 3.2 of the Regulation.

If the application is approved by the Government, the beneficiaries will receive financial aid that guarantees them the economic boundary of personal or family social cohesion, as long as they continue to meet the requirements and the reduction of the rental of premises for businesses and of the rented accommodations is in force.

These Regulations has entered into force on May 15, 2020.

The content of this document has been drawn up strictly taking into account the regulations in force on the day of issue. Any novelty published in BOPA, that modifies or expands its content, will entail the publication of a new news item that incorporates said novelties.
